The Gong Crawl - Rythm and Repition- Art Exhibition at the VAN-Q
‘Rhythm & Repetition’
This exhibition looks at rhythm and repetition as a shared ground between music and art making. The artists work across ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, video and 3d modelling. Each often sharing a role in music, through creation, subject, community and friendships. Here, the premise of rhythm and repetition echoes beyond musicality, towards the actions of art making across mediums like throwing pots, mark making, editing frames. All of which form a rhythm and a motion, repeating actions and returning to a process.
Presented downstairs at Van Q, once a bank vault and now a DIY art space, the vault history offers a dry irony. A room built to protect capital now holds work made in economies defined by persistence and a joy in the action of making. Featuring Alexandra Neville, Angus Black, Brooke Taylor, Casey St John, Heather Duncan, Narrang, Nova Farrell, and Yanni Cvetanovic, the show spans ceramics, moving image, 3D modelling, drawing, painting, and photography.
Opening celebration and drinks November 22 at 4:30 - 5:30pm
The exhibition will open til 10pm as part of The Gong Crawl 2025.
